Simplified Welcome Guide
+ Background
Founded by one of my fellow Augustana journalism department alumni, Megan Raposa, Sioux Falls Simplified is an independent news outlet that provides easy-to-understand breakdowns of local news and issues. After running a successful website and newsletter for a year, Megan wanted to create a guide that would give people who are new to the area a simplified but comprehensive breakdown of the most important information any Sioux Fallsian should know.
True to its name, Sioux Falls Simplified already had an existing brand that was clean and simple. I expanded on this brand to create an editorial style that clearly organized a lot of complex information and would be easy for readers to skim and find the information they were looking for.
The cover features simplified line drawings of notable Sioux Falls landmarks across different industries including the Arc of Dreams (art), Washington Pavilion (education), Zandbroz Variety (retail), the Old Courthouse (government), and the Cathedral of Saint Joseph (religion).
